August 2025, Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh — The Green Oasis tree-planting initiative, co-organized by the Chroy Changvar Satellite City and OCIC Group, successfully brought together for the 5th edition families, students, colleagues, and residents on Saturday morning to plant trees and contribute to a greener and more sustainable Cambodia. This edition of Green Oasis was supported by key partners, including Canadia Bank, a long term partner of this initiative; CamTech University, located in Chroy Changvar and committed to sustainable education; and Techo International Airport, which is developing the Cultural Park within TIA City — a space blending traditional Khmer wooden houses with locally grown trees to celebrate both heritage and nature.

Green Oasis: Expanding Urban Green Spaces
Green Oasis is a long-term community initiative dedicated to creating more green spaces across Cambodia, with a strong focus on urban areas. By involving residents, partners, schools, and youth volunteers, the program promotes community participation and raises awareness about sustainability and biodiversity.
During this event, participants planted three native tree species ranging from one to two meters tall:
- ដើមក្ងោក (Peacock Tree)
- ដើមឆត្រ័ម៉ាឡេ (Malayan Umbrella Tree)
- ដើមសំរោង (Samrong Tree)
“Green Oasis is not just about planting trees; it’s about planting hope, building connections, and shaping the future of our cities,” said Thierry Tea, Vice President of OCIC. “By joining forces with our partners and the community, we are creating more green spaces that improve quality of life and promote sustainable urban growth.”
Participants will also be able to follow the growth of the trees they planted, creating a lasting connection with the initiative and the community.

Chroy Changvar: Building a Sustainable Urban District
The Green Oasis initiative supports OCIC Group’s broader strategy to develop Chroy Changvar into a well-rounded, sustainable urban district just a minute from Phnom Penh’s city center.
